Hello All,
Just found a foregrip failure on a gator snatching rod i am putting together for the upcoming season. Not having proper tools i unevenly bored out the foregrip and didn't glue it properly. I was able to easily twist the Eva and break the bond on over 80% of the grips length. Cut it off and now i am left with a very uneven mess from the masking tape bushings (in an attempt to make the grip fit) and the areas that the epoxy actually held the grip. Looking for suggestions on how to clean the area. I can easily remove the tape bushings but wonder if i need to remove the remaining epoxy. Thinking of just sanding it smooth and sliding another (properly fitted) grip over it. I appreciate the input and suggestions. This site Rocks.! J Scott Englewood, Fl Re: Grip Failure-Repair Help

Your suggestion should work fine. No need to be too pickey about the prep. As long as you can fit the new part well you should be able to glue it on nicely. Re: Grip Failure-Repair Help

Jim,
To help out the job, I keep a heat gun handy and heat the glue enough so that it is easy to scrape off with a single edge razor blade held at right angles to the rod blank. Just a few minutes scraping the warm, almost hot to the touch, epoxy and the blank will be clean and level. Be safe Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
