Yes, exactly that. 5 inches is trimmed from the blank - or its equivalent. When you check the butt and tip diameters, the blanks fit that solution: [stcroixrods.com] You will notice that the butt of the 6'3" is .420" The tip is 4.0 However, the butt of the 5'9" is .400. The tip is 4.0. So with the trimming of the butt of the 6'3" blank the diameter is reduced by .-2 inches. But you notice that the tip diameter stays the same. Be safe Re: Anybody use SCV 59mxf?

I have built about 15 rods on that blank with tenessee handles. It is one of the lightest and most sensitive blanks I have built on. Beware due to the small diameter of the tip there is little error for high sticking, abuse, and lure knocks, and banging in rod lockers.
