In this schematic from Shimano:
[www.mikesreelrepair.com] The shaft is called the "main shaft" Another schematic: [s7d5.scene7.com] Also called the "main shaft". Be safe Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/04/2016 01:01PM by roger wilson. Re: what do you call the shaft on a spin reel that holds the spool?

There does not appear to be a standard. Some brands call it an "axle" some a "shaft". Re: what do you call the shaft on a spin reel that holds the spool?

Hello Buzz.
Okuma, Pflueger, Daiwa, Fin-Nor, Shakespeare, Shimano, Spider, & Harbor Freight call it the "Main Shaft". The only Penn book I have "Model PG1000" calls it the "Spool Shaft". Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines. Bob, New Bern, NC. Re: what do you call the shaft on a spin reel that holds the spool?
