I too have been trying to contact Steve regarding advice on a spiral wrap with no luck, must be still having issues with email. When I have tech issues I just find someone 1/2-1/3 my age. (not meant to be a comment on Mr. Gardners age or technical aptitude, but mine)

Tim,
The simple repair for your VCR is tape.

Take a piece of black tape and cover the display on the VCR. You will never have to worry about setting the time again.

LOL, You always have great tips, I took a different route and solved my problem with a little gas and a Bic, going to upgrade if I can find the Bell & Howell 8mm projector in the attic.( VHS with does work with that right?)
