I just purchased a "new in the original wrapper" Lamiglas RON ARRA XRA-1381H Blank . . .
I need help with guide spacing and sizing ( #12 minimum size ) . I will be wrapping it as a conventional, using Fuji Hardloy BHNLG guides and a #22 Fuji reel seat . . . Handle length is 28", from the Butt to the center of the reel foot. Blank Specs : 11,6" , 1-piece, Butt Dia. .89", Tip #12, Line Rating 20-40 lb, Casting Wt. 4-12oz. ( Closer to 6-16oz. actual ), Blank Wt. 16oz.. Thanks, in advance ! "Fishing is our Handshake, our Language. A Heritage that binds us together. A Passage our fathers took. Hi Dave , I built a XRA 132 1 a few years back as a conventional using Fuji's (16 total). As far as spacing goes, that's something your gonna have to work out for yourself by trial and error until your satisfied that your getting the most that you can out of it.
I went with 16 guides because its a softer blank and I thought that's what it needed. It turned out to be a great rod and after it was built I brought it to a casting demo by Ron sponsored by a tackle shop here in NJ and he signed it for me after casting it himself. He's a great guy, very down to earth. I drove all the way to Connecticut to purchase that blank from a writer of "On The Water" magazine. An 11' blank hanging out the back window of my short bed pick up. Luckily it was August. Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Re: Lamiglas RON ARRA XRA-1381H Blank - GUIDE SPACING ???

Dennis,
The 1381H is definitely not a "soft" blank. It has a Moderate action and is not parabolic, like many other Lamiglas blanks are. Thanks for the reply ! Dave "Fishing is our Handshake, our Language. Lamiglas used the same guide spacing on the SSU rods. It's on the Lamiglas site, unless they have changed things. Re: Lamiglas RON ARRA XRA-1381H Blank - GUIDE SPACING ???

easy thing to do IMHO is to find a spacing chart with google Usually one guide per foot plus one
Find a blank similar to the one your doing -- When you get your guides tape them on and do a Static Test This will let you know where you should have the guides -- Then test cast and of course you can move things around and try again Fuji has a good static test wright up here [anglersresource.net] Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
