has anyone had any success sanding down a wavy finish on a colored blank and refinishing the rod? Re: wavy finish

Assuming you're talking about finish on the wraps, yes. Block sand but don't get into the thread. Move through finer and finer grits to about 320 to 400 and recoat.
If the finish is on the blank for some reason, you can do the same, but be careful not to get into the actual blank finish. ............. Re: wavy finish

Sam,
I have had to do this when the epoxy came out wavy. Follow Tom's suggestions with the sanding and then follow his suggestion with the application of the epoxy after sanding, (see library for epoxy application). Don Campbell don@sensorfishingrods.com Re: wavy finish

When you try sanding it down it will look really bad and you won't be able to see the wrap underneath but once you put more thread finish on it will clear up and won't be noticeable Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
