AirWave Nanolite, Duralite, or TidalWave guides?

I'm new to rod building and the forum, and looking for some advice from wealth of knowledge on this board. Ever since casting one of my friends top water rods with Microwave guides, I've been itching to build one of my own. That said, given the options of AirWave Nanolite, Duralite, and the titanium TidalWave guides I'm leaning towards the latter given that I fish brackish water for stripers, but wanted to ensure I'm not missing something, or being a total fisherman and being sucked in by the shiniest / fanciest of the bunch.

Also I've got my eyes on a few different blanks, but am curious if anyone has a topwater favorite they could suggest that would be good for striped bass throwing spooks / poppers in the 1 - 1.5oz range?

Thanks!

Andrew

You will be fine, make sure when you set up the rod that the spacing between the stripper guide, the transition guide, and the first running guides are set up at the recommended distances apart. If you are planning on building a rod longer than 7 foot, get a few extra running guides. Good Luck, you will love the set up.

Good morning Andrew....

Are you building a spinning rod or casting rod?

What blank are you using?

If you are fishing large stripers with heavier spinning gear I would also recommend looking at the MicroWave 30's.

As far as ring material..... Nanolite is the hardest and will hold up the best to super braid lines in salt water.

If you need any help with your set up please do not hesitate to give me a call.

Randy - Thanks for the insight. I'll be sure to keep those guides consistent, and only adjust the other guides according to static testing.

Don - I'm looking at an LS7 8-14lb blank and will be building a spinning rod (2500 series reel). However, I'm not set in stone on the blank and open to suggestions. I tend to try and keep my gear on the lighter side when possible.

Thanks for the insight on Nanolite, sounds like Nanolite Tidalwaves are the way to go.

I would agree with your decision for the Nanolite Tidal wave guides Andrew.... The system comes with 9 guides so you should not need any extra runners.... Good luck and have fun!
