CP adhesion on decals

Hi all. Since I started building a couple years ago I've used FlexCoat color preserver, but sometimes it's too thick or full-bodied for my liking. So I started using Chromaseal and that seems more user friendly for me. Anyway, on my current rod I applied a Decal Connection decal and brushed on Chromaseal. But the CP ran off the decal like water off a duck's back. I let that dry a couple hours and applied FlexCoat which coated nicely and seems to have adhered to the decal fine (as it had on all my previous rods).
So I'm just curious if others have noticed that kind of difference in behaviour between two brands of CP? it makes me want to get some U-40 CP just to compare behaviour.

Put CP on while turning the rod it helps to keep it covered
Flexcoat CP can also be thinned with distilled water Don't go crazy thinning and use several coats Experiment

The Flex Coat and U-40 color preservers are the same product.

Bill, the Chromaseal ran off, Flexcoat did not. I haven't tried U-40 but was thinking about it til I saw Tom's post. Btw, I did apply while turning.
I considered thinning FlexCoat CP, but my philosophy was like that of epoxy - instead of thinning and messing with the formula I find another brand that's thinner by design and doesn't require thinning.

Some thing I have used that I consider better then CP on decals is Fixatif the spray And it also seems to be a lot clearer then CP that some get cloudy [www.walmart.com]

I've experienced the same thing, with the exact cp products. The only difference was I was using waterslide decals I made myself.

Bill, thanks for the reminder about Fixatif spray and I do happen to have some. I first used Fixatif spray over some hand-writing I did using Testors paint. But that was a disaster as it caused the paint to run and smear so I banished it to the back of my cabinet and forgot about it.

Ya have to let painted letters dry I will try the ink on a piece of scrap and hit it with a hair dryer till it feels dry to the touch Just warm it several times should do it
Also
Don't put it on first coat real wet 2 or 3 dust coats letting each of them dry
