Ferrule too loose

In the process of rebuilding/restoring a two piece split bamboo rod. Both halves of the ferrule cleaned up to look like new. The problem is the two pieces fit together too nicely. The top will fly off with the first cast I am sure. Are there any tricks for making them fit a little tighter? I have encountered the opposite problem many times. This is a first for me. I am pretty sure I will be told to just replace them!

Thank you.

part of the answer depends on what make the rod is which affects the ferrules. Chrome plated ferrules like those found on Montague and H and I are usually easier to just replace. Nickle silver Ferrules like those found on better rods such as Granger, Philipson and Heddon can either be replated or "shruken". The shrinking process takes a some skill and patience and at times is not for the faint of heart. if you message me I can walk you thru the process or if you are looking for vintage chrome ones I may even have them.
