Try Thorne Bros custom rods, they were the people pushing it. Be advised like birch bark it works much better to shape after being installed on the rod blank vs from a mandrel, it can come apart while on a mandrel. Re: Syncork

Thorne brothers in Minneapolis, hired a chemist to develop Syncork. I believe that they are the major supplier for it.
As others have said, best to glue the syncork to the blank before shaping it. If you don't, the joints may come apart during the machine operations. Be safe Re: Syncork

Looks like Thorne still sells it, I'm sure they will help with the application, however does any one know what kind of glue they use to put it on the blank? Re: Syncork

Epoxy was recommended when I last used it quite a few years ago. I used Rod Bond. Re: Syncork

I talked to the Chemist when he was developing it for Thorne Brothers. The specified glue is epoxy.
The problem with doing a handle shape on a mandrel and then transferring it to a blank, is that due to the strength of the edge to edge joints on Syncork - a bond may break. However, once an entire grip is turned on a grip, the total grip when the glue up to the blank and to each other is just fine for tooling and shaping.
