covered rod tube for multi-pc spin rods - air travel

Several years ago I tried to carry on a plane a rod tube made of plain PVC pipe with a screw cap.. TSA would not let me carry it on board as it was a "weapon" So I bought a Pac Bay travel rod case that is PVC pipe and covered in cordura like material.
The dimensions for this tube are 39" long by 4" ID. I have carried this rod tube on commercial planes about 14 times a year for the last three years. Never had a problem. And of course this tube is no longer made by Pac Bay, or anyone else that I can find.

Does anyone know of a covered rod tube in these dimensions that is for sale via retail? Remember it has to be of a size that i can carry it on the plane and I am carrying a spin rod in it. Not a fly rod.
Thanks

Buzz

Buzz,
If you know of a person that sews, it is very easy to stitch up a cover with handles to put on an inner tube.

Or, you could get a plexiglas tube that has a clear surface. That way, all of the tube's contents would be easily viewed by an observer.

Jay, from what I could tell H&H are just for fly rods.

I THINK I found something that would work at Cabela's. But oh wow, quite the price.....
Thanks to all

Buzz,
When I checked the size requirement for carry on luggage of several different airlines, all of them seemed to say that the item must fit in the size restrictions for the over head bins which has a length of only 29 inches.

Can you really carry on a tube that is 39 inches in length with today's rules.

If you want to check the pole, you can check the pole for a length up to 115 inches, at the cost of an additional checked bag of about $35 per item.

Be safe
