I am looking for a rod building club in western Washington. I have quite a bit of rod building supplies that I am will to donate to a club that teaches rod building.
I have fly reel seats, blanks, handles, cork rings epoxy, feathers for decorations and much more that I willing to give to a group that teaches rod building. I have not built a rod in 5 years and no longer have the urge. Please let me know as I have decided that I am not going to sell this stuff piece by piece. I do not want to throw it away, but I will if I can't find what I am looking for. Thanks Tom Church tpchurch@gmail.com Re: Rod building club search

see if they have HEALING WATERS , that could use what you have, I know they do a lot of good here in Alaska fishing , fly tying an rod building also fishing trips , ,they could be doing the same thing in your section of the country, it will not hurt to call healing waters, if you can't find them, try the VA for direction good luck William Sidney AK Re: Rod building club search

Thomas, back in the late 1970s I was teaching at St. Martin's College in Lacy Washington. The college tried tried to encourage adult students to the college by offering non credit courses. I offered a rod building course. I had five students and I contacted Shoff's, Fishing tackle Supply house. They offered my students a discount for the parts needed to build a fishing rod. I believe they are still in business. If you contact them they may have information about rod building clubs in western Washington. Good luck.

What about Kansas City? I'm out of Olathe, which is 20 minutes away from KC. A club would be awesome but if there are local builders it would be great to get in touch with them. I still have a lot to learn at the age of 26. Re: Rod building club search

Hi Tom,
I'm in Lacey, WA. I don't believe there are any rod building clubs in the area. I do however teach a lot of guys in the area who are interested and willing to learn how to build rods. I don't carry a lot of inventory, if you would be willing to throw some components my way, I would love to take them off your hands. Let me know if you would be interested in doing that. Regards Roger Re: Rod building club search
