Hi everyone,
I am just about finished with my first build and my tip top seems too big. My blank is a MHX SJ833 and the spec says its a 5, but my American Tackle NCRLLT 5(5) tip top seems to fit very loose. I tried a 4.5 but it's too small - so, I'm somewhere in between. I would assume that tip tops are made to failry exact IDs, so do I just wrap thread on the tip to make it slightly bigger? Just glue and go? What do you fellas do? Thanks! Pat Reddy Riverbound Brew Co. St. Louis, MO Re: tip top wiggle room?

Fit should be fairly close. You can wrap a layer of thread (spiralled) to fill small gaps.
Rod blanks are not precision machined parts. The sizes in the catalogs are target specs. A blank tip can easily be a half 64th out and still be considered true to size. ................ Re: tip top wiggle room?
