My husband recently passed away and among his effects were two Sage rods. The first is a Sage Graphite B390GSH. I found information on this one, and I believe it is a 9', 3 power graphite steelhead rod from the 1980's or 1990's. Please correct if I'm wrong.
The second one is a Sage Hi Modulus B486SBT. I'm guessing this one is a 8' 6" 4 power rod, but I do not know what the SBT stands for. Can anyone help me identify that acronym? I will need to sell these, and I'm hoping someone can help me with value as well. Thanks. Re: Two vintage Sage rods

Dear Mary
Sorry for your loss. If they were fly rods I could help you. But they are most likely spinning or casting rods. Best to contact Sage directly for accurate description. Just google Sage Fly Rods to get corporate tele #. If you get run-around from them - which I do not anticipate - ask to speak to Jerry Siem ( senior blank designer). Re value: Sage has not built blanks other than fly blanks for some time. So the technology used in building the blanks are old. But there are always people looking to build on old banks or use older rods which tend to be softer. You might ask Sage what original price was. They were not cheap as I remember. I could not afford them at the time. Regards, Herb Re: Two vintage Sage rods

Sage gear blanks are still available in Canada, I don't see the 390 listed any longer. Have no Idea what the SBT is, Sage built quite a few lines of rod blanks back in the earlier days, I think the ones I were around were still in the GSP line, just in shorter and possibly heavier powered versions than are available today. From my 1988 Sage blank catalog Lists the GSH 390B as Med. Lt 1/4- 1 0z. 6-20# line, Sug. retail $142.00
If I remember correctly the other blank is an 8.5' S-glass blank for salmon fishing. I believe I had a customer who ordered 6 of them and had me cut 3" off the butt so they would fit in his under gunnel rod holders. I believe this to be the case with your blank since there is no G in the designation. I believe the retail price was around $80 - $90 dollars. Both excellent blanks. Made many rods on both of them. Hope this helps. Re: Two vintage Sage rods
