Ferrule Troubles

I just completed a rebuild on an old production bamboo blank. I hand fit the nickle ferrules until I though the felt really good, with a positive lock-up and an nice pop when taken apart. Now that I've glued and wrapped them onto the blank, however, the male ferrule rotates in the female quite easily, and I'm afraid they may separate during hard casting. What happened? Is there anything I can do to fix the problem short of removal and a new ferrule set? Thank you in advance for your thoughts and advice. Re: Ferrule Troubles

A tubing cutting with a blunt cutter can be rotated around the male ferrule top and bottom to restore fit. It sort of deforms the ferrule just enough to create a little additional friction. Go easy, it doesn't take much.
A new ferrule set would be desirable, but you can use the above trick to make what you have now work prety well. ................ Re: Ferrule Troubles

I would find a tubing cutter with a worn, blunt cutting wheel, and I would deform the female ferrule in two places as far apart as possible to prevent the male ferrule from pivoting on a single high point and moving during the cast. Re: Ferrule Troubles
