I have a question on Hand wrappers I have looked on this web site an could not find it ,
As Mud Hole under CRB hand wrapper it has a tension rod on it . [ I have made mine out of a hack saw blade] , I don's see how any one with a hand wrapper do with out it, or is it just for us new-bees to help us an don't need it after we do a few rods ? it allows us to back up a little when we turn the rod backwards an not loose the wind it makes it so muck easier for me , do give me some input on it William Sidney AK Re: hand wrapper tension ROD

Good question Bill, some have them, But most don't, On the other hand I don't use ether one. I have a nice wrapper with a thread carriage. But I use a large hand held fly tying bobbin with tread tension control. I just feel like I have more control with the bobbin?? I have 6 of them loaded with whatever colors I'm using for that build, When I used the thread carriage it seemed like I was fumbling around to much. Lots of ways to skin a fish, Find what works and stick with it. Heck I'm probably the only one that use's a bobbin on this site. Tight Lines Jaa Re: hand wrapper tension ROD

I find the spring steel wire tensioner invaluable on my hand wrapper! As mentioned, it allows one to back-up without losing tension on the thread. Without it, I would have to hold the thread itself, or lose the tension. Not a newbie! Re: hand wrapper tension ROD
