I have been using lumiseal for years as a finish for a striped rod. I use it mostly when I strip a rod to refinish. I apply it with a brush and for the most part it comes out pretty good. It doesn't go on real smooth though like a rack rod finish. Short of a professional spray booth or a dip tank is there a way too get a nice smooth finish? What are you guys doing? I know it helps to sand between coats but the finish still gets a little wavy. Re: lumiseal aplication

Thoroughly wet a piece of cheesecloth with it. Swipe the rod blank butt to tip in one motion, rotate 180 degrees, repeat. Wait about a half hour, do it again. That will give you a pretty smooth finish. More so than I've been able to achieve with a brush.

Make sure your cheesecloth is "wet."
