Stripper Guide Orientation

Customer brought me a 9' 2pc spinning surf rod for rework with new updated guide system.
His example is a Fugi LC system which has the stripper guide installed backwards.
In researching I find that the major manufactures are producing rods with this configuration.
As a custom rod builder this does not go with what I have learned and been taught.
So I am confused, does anyone have any answers?

If the angle of the guide is upright, not leaning one way or the other, it won't matter much. The line will never know which way the frame is oriented.

However, some of the newer model guides have "line shedding" frames which will throw off tangles and wraps and some of those are intended to be mounted in reverse so far as the butt guide is concerned. So it really depends on the specific guide model you're dealing with.

If the guide tips forward, put the forward lean to the tip. If straight up and down and double foot with curved uprights on one side, place the curved side to the butt.

The line coil coming from the reel is largest as it approaches the first guide (stripper). My understanding is that the LC was first reversed so a single leg would face the reel and remove the possibility of line slapping the long sloping braces of the LC. In Fuji's time line, they show the LC in a traditional position, which seems to verify that reversing the guide may have been a "local" modification. Fuji endorsed the reverse position later on, but it did not start that way. That's the way the "historians" here remember it.

I thought the line tangleing frames were when casting out line --- why turn the guide around ??? now it does not work
