Hi Jim,
I use Threadmaster, and almost always put my next coat on after 6 hours. I usually work in 78-82 degree temperatures, which slightly speeds the curing time. Take care, Chris Re: drying time between coats

It depends on epoxy being used and the temperature of the place. I think you should always leave the tray / cup so you can check when it is no longer too tacky ... I don't think slightly tacky is a problem. In my case with Prokote and 75 degrees, 8 hours or so is usually a perfect time. Re: drying time between coats

before applying the next coat warm the finish up with a hair dryer, your applications will flow better and it decreases the down time after recoating. You will also have less bubbles in your mix. The down side , it dries faster and may limit the amt of guides you can do. I think with tacky you can recoat. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 06/10/2015 10:43AM by Bill Cohen. Bill, are you using the hair dryer to warm the finish already on the rod, or the stuff in the cup for the next coat? Re: drying time between coats

Hi Chip, use it in both instances. Here is what I do . Measure it out, heat it with a hair dryer till its almost the consistancy of water . Mix , then a little blast afterwards to knock out the small bubbles, After Ive coated if there is any that need for bubble killing I repeat.. The hair dryer is great it never bubbles the finish. If Im using the hair dryer on finished guides I always point the dryer toward the cieling I feel there are less chances of getting something on the wraps. Its not for everyone . Have any more questions Ill be glad to help Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/11/2015 12:49PM by Bill Cohen. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
