Hi Guys,
I wanted to build a rod aprox 1 to 4 oz jigging rod application for: Fluke, Weakfish and Striped Bass Wanted the build 6'2" - 6ft 6 inches (height) This rod would be used on a kayak and boat for: jigging, bucktailing, light casting and trolling. Rod weight 5.5 ounces or less. with great flexibilty but with a strong backbone. Any suggesions? Is there a factory rod verision? I did look at the black hole thai blank blank weight is 1.4 ounces. However, I am not sure if it has enough backbone. Thank you!! Re: very light jigging rod 5.5 ounces or less

Never used the Thai blank but I've read it's very strong and will work that application. I building a rod for that purpose and used a rainshadow sws70mh 15-30# 1-4oz. Weighs in at 4.5 oz. You can cut it down to the length you want. I used the same blank to build a Mahi sight fishing rod. Hope that helps. Best, MH Re: very light jigging rod 5.5 ounces or less

If you are looking at vertical jigging, something like a mag bass blank with a 1/4-3/4 oz lure rating could serve you well. It's not going to cast 4 oz of lead plus lure/bait, but you will be able to lob cast 1 oz of lead.
Check in with Captain Neil Faulkner. He uses a lot of freshwater blanks jigging for the species you are seeking around LI. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
