Anyone know what guides are used on Abu Garcia Villian spinning rods? Their website shows titanium/Ti... I spoke with someone at Abu and they wouldnt tell me what guides they are.
Thanks For any help. -Mike Re: Looking for info

Titanium alloy guides with Ti inserts allow for a super lightweight guide giving the ultimate in rod performance
I did not see on a lot of discriptions the name FUJI if they were I am sure they would have Fuji's name They are the best -- Unless there is a better Bill - willierods.com Re: Looking for info

You could buy one of their rods, then cut the guides off and do a forensic examination of the guides so you would know for sure.
You can often look carefully at a guide, or in a store, take several pictures of guides on a rod and then do market comparisons of your pictures to actual guides. Be safe Re: Looking for info

Mike,
I think Abu Garcia tends to use proprietary guides made specifically for them. Joe Re: Looking for info

The Veritas 2.0 rod shows "titanium/SIC" guides, so im gonna assume those are Fuji. But, maybe the titanium/Ti are proprietary for Abu?? Re: Looking for info

Mike,
When you get the rod to repair, just look at the guides on the rod and find one that looks similar. Be safe Re: Looking for info

of course we do!! we make some of the best out there plus they are fairly inexpensive compared to the competitors! [alpsforecast.com]
If you want, we can develop a mini guide concept style system for your rod! Re: Looking for info

Mr. Ortega,
There are several rod manufacturers overseas that use guides featuring custom ring / frame material and/or ring / frame finishes. We have seen several examples on the market where ring materials are described as titanium giving the impression that the ring material is solid titanium or titanium alloy, when in fact the rings are stainless steel or ceramic that have been coated with titanium based PVD or possibly DLC coatings. I would imagine that a solid titanium ring (not titanium oxide which is a ceramic) would be too soft to make for a durable ring. Possibly a solid titanium ring made from one of the more exotic Ti alloys would work but I imagine you would pay a pretty penny for them, and by exotic I mean something other than Ti 6-4 which makes up the vast majority of alloyed titanium used globally. I have looked at a photo of the Abu Garcia rod in question and was not able to determine the manufacturer due to the generic frame shape. I will say that they don't appear to be our guides. -The Batson TEAM BatsonEnterprises.com Re: Looking for info

Thanks for all the replies. I'll keep looking around and see if I can find the source for the guides, if not I'll suggest using the closest match I can find ( hard to do with pictures). Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
