Is it proper to install both the reel seat and handle as the first step in building a fly rod? Or should I do the reel seat one day and the handle the next? Re: Installing Reel Seat and Handle

Some people who use the 5 min. epoxy will do both at the same time. I won't use that product because it doesn't allow very much time for minor adjustments. I will epoxy the reel seat on the blank, let set over night and the next day glue on the cork rings. I do all my cork turning on the blank. I know many don't use this method now days, but I think it gives the strongest, longest lasting grip. You will get many other ideas with your post. The choice is up to you. You will have to finds out which works best for you. Re: Installing Reel Seat and Handle

In addition to Randy's comments, I use 30-60 minute epoxy and I generally do all of my rod glue ups at the same time.
I get everything prepped, with respect to reel seat arbors, reel seat, grips and or cork rings and have everything ready to go. then, I mix up one batch of epoxy and fit everything together at the same time. The slow drying epoxy gives enough time to do adjustments and clean up, before the glue sets up. Take care Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
