fiberglass rod blanks

Hi All,

I am looking to build a 3 wt fiberglass fly rod in the 7-8 ft range, traditional slow action. I have done some searching, but am not familiar with the good names in the game (other than Steffan, lamiglas). I am looking for something in the $100 range. Any guidance is appreciated!

Thanks,

Carrington

Anglers Roost or Kettle Creek. I've built on both. I've had a Kettle Creek for years and it's probably one of my favorite rods.

Check out Fiberglass Flyrodders forum. Good info there on old and new glass rods and blanks.

Great topic. I had a request to build a 9ft 3wt glass rod to be used on a downrigger for kokanee fishing. Lamiglas builds a 7'6" glass rod for this application with a line rating of 2-8lb. my customer wants a 9ft so he can fan it out on his boat. Does a 9ft glass rod with a very lite line rating even exist?

Yes the lamiglas ssh blanks are good for that purpose. But they are S glass and spigot ferrules.

Not sure a 3 wt. blank can trip your downrigger's release. The Lamiglas kokanee blank is a noodle, but more powerful than a 3 wt.
