I am planning to build 2 fly rods for my sons. Both have fly fished before and live near great trout fishing opportunities. They will be fishing small to medium free stone mountain streams and lime stone streams. Any suggestions toward a selection of blanks. I would like to use an 8' 4 wt. 2 pc. There may be some instances where they may need a longer cast from time to time. I was looking at a Batson blank or a TFO. Any suggestions? Thanks Re: Fly rod blank suggestions

My recommendations would change based on factors not mentioned, like 2 pieces or 4, type of action (slow/traditional vs mid vs fast), price expectations.
If I were to want a fast action and willing to spend significant money I would look at Rainshadow Eternity 2 or Pac Bay Quickline. The latter can be had fairly reasonably if you shop around, price seems to vary a lot. Both of these are very high quality, high performance fast blanks (4 piece). It will help to get more specific with your preferences and you will get a lot of help from very knowledgeable people here. Re: Fly rod blank suggestions

Built a few sage VXP rods for eastern Arkansas stream use and all customers have been happy with them.
4 piece and 8ft 6 long. They have been replaced by new models but still a few blanks around if that is the kind of price you are willing to run to. Re: Fly rod blank suggestions
