Someone mentioned metallic thread fading - if used on guide wraps does it really fade quickly? More so than nylon thread? Re: Metallic Thread on Guides - one more

Metallics, regardless of where they're use on the rod, tend to fade more quickly than nylon. Some colors are worse than others. Some brands may be worse than others.

Marc,
I wrap 90% of my bass rods with metallic thread. The only color that I have had trouble with fading is the dark blues. I've tried different brands of blue thread and they all seem to fade to some degree. I built myself an 8' St Croix SC4 flipping stick several years ago and the cobalt blue metallic thread is now a light purplish blue color on the side of the rod facing up when laid on my boat deck and the rod is only in the sunlight when I am fishing it. I recently read an article on the internet that indicated the color blue absorbs more infrared light than any other color. I guess this contributions to the faster fading of blue threads. I have not had any trouble with other colors fading. Don Campbell don@sensorfishingrods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
