I'm thinking of building a 10', 4 pc, 4/5 wt fly rod using blanks from the Angler's Roost. I'd like to install a Fugi concealed hood spinning reel handle (as sold by Jann's Netcraft), cutting off the rear of the handle at least the 3-4 inch length of a standard fly rod reel seat, installing the same on the rear of the cut-down handle, thus making a "spin-fly" rod. Is this feasible? Has anyone any experience with such a set-up? Re: Fugi concealed hood spinning reel handle

Patrick,
It sounds like it would work just fine. Just do a trial fit up, before cutting anything or gluing anything. You want to be sure of a perfect fit, with nothing left out. Make sure that your test lay up will do everything that you have planned for it before doing any cutting or gluing. Be safe Re: Fugi concealed hood spinning reel handle

Should work great. If you search the photo page you can find some examples of these types of handles that may inspire / assist you.
At risk of being a homer, there is nothing Jann's can get you that the sponsors at left can't get. Check out their total prices with shipping and you may find a win / win.... Good luck and post some pics when you are done! Re: Fugi concealed hood spinning reel handle

Bill, Stupid me. I was shocked to see that Jann's is not a sponsor. Since they are "out of stock" on the Fugi handle, you bet I'll check out the sponsors on the left. Thanks, for bringing this to my attention. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
