I have been using Minima's on light spinning gear, but running a ceramic tip top, thinking it's easier on the light line. Are any of you guys using the Minima guides and tip tops for rods with 4-6# mono? And does it fish nice?
I'd like to drop the ceramic tips if there won't be extra line wear. Not concerned about wear on the tip itself. Thanks - Marc Keep it simple - that's all I can handle! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/10/2015 03:11PM by Marc Morrone. Re: Minima Guides and Light Mono

Most folks use the minima tip for their guide train with minimas and don't experience issues.

Marc,
Many of my ice rods use Minnema tip tops while using 2 pound test mono line. Never had a problem even while landing 20" smallies. I have used Minnema guides and tip tops on center pin rods with light line and big steelies and salmon, again nor problems with tip tops causing undue line wear or breakage. Thanks Buzz - if they are working on rods for steelies and salmon, that's about the ultimate test for light line rods!
I am going to build some up to fish as soon as the ice goes out. Let's hope it goes out before opener this year! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
