Could some one explain Test Curve and how to figure lure weight the blank will throw or handle I read up on it It seems to have it's flaws
This is one I have read And still have no idea [www.harrisonrods.co.uk] Instead of playing I notice that Rod Geeks has just what I am looking for And a Nice price 12' 2 piece surf blank up to 16oz lure lami has several also but don't think the customer will like the price Thank you Bill - willierods.com Edited 2 time(s). As the author of the article points out, the test curve is flawed as far as its intended use, and it has nothing to do with lure weights. There are situations where blanks/rods can be visually analyzed or compared in the curved or flexed condition, but again, nothing to do with lure weight determination. I bought a fixture from Backlash Tools several years ago that makes it easy to do. Before I had it, I used a jury-rigged setup that was a PIA to use.
(http://www.mudhole.com/Other/Wall-Mounted-Blank-Tester-by-Backlash-Tools?search=Shop+Our+Catalog) So……..the best way to measure Power and Action is by bending a blank/rod 1/3 of its length and then recording how much weight it took to do it. At the same time, the tip angle can be measured with a protractor, then recorded as the Action. You then have the means to categorize or make relative comparisons to other blanks/rods. It still doesn’t give you lure weights, but it can be calculated for, once you have a Power value. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/21/2015 03:03PM by jim spooner.
