Some times I feel like an idiot but I you guys are a great resource and I am in new territory here. You guys have already answered a few questions for me on this build. Thank you all for your patience with a newbie like me.
I am building a stand up rod for sharks and am almost done except I am waiting on a Pac Bay eliminator stripper guide and roller top that are on back order. I have been looking around on this site and many others to see how the stripper guide should be mounted. Meaning, should the top or higher roller be up the rod or down the rod. I own a stand up rod from Penn that I bought and that one has the higher of the two rollers up the rod....then I looked at some custom builds and I see it facing back towards the handle. This seems pretty important to me as on the rod I bought the stripper really affects the line path as it comes off my size 50 reel. I want to do this right. Thanks again, Joe Re: Roller Guide Help....

On the "E" series roller guides, the top roller will be closer to the tip end of the rod. The model nomenclature on the guide leg should face the fisherman.

I am sure I could Bill.....I used the turbo boat guides for the runners....I do not like to handle braid and I wanted to reduce friction (whether real or imagined) on the 80lb mono I am going to load on the rod. Here is a pic of my guides....when I get the rollers in I will post up another. [www.rodbuilding.org] Joe Re: Roller Guide Help....

As a general rule, the slope of the guide should face the reel seat, and the perpendicular should face the tip of the rod. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
