Does anyone know where I can find a guide spacing chart for an 8' (4 pc) 3 or 4 wt. Orvis. The blank has the number 9262 on each section as well as the number 7. I have no idea what the number 7 indicates because it seems much too light to be a 7 wt. I have searched the web for information with no success. Thanks in advance for any input provided. Thanks Curtis. I used the Dale Clemens Calculator and it worked just fine for me. I'll bookmark that one for future use! Re: Guide spacing info needed for an 8' (4 pc) 3 or 4 wt. Orvis

I'm by no means an expert, but I started placing my guides by first using the manufacturers specs and then doing a static load test, and I'm blown away by how far I move guides/how often I have to add guides to get a good match.
I recently laid out an MHX rod and there isn't a single guide on the finished rod that was within inches of the original measurements. Based on that, I don't even bother to research the manufacturers specs any more, just lay them out and watch them bend. Since all of my rods cast fine and often outcast the same blank commercially built, I'm fascinated by these discrepancies, but don't worry too much about it.
