I am building a 7'6" flipping stick. I am wanting to use micro guides but am not sure if they will pull out on a rod that heavy. The guides are Fuji titanium aclconite K series. Any other foreseeable problems or am I good to go?
Thanks, Ben Eipert Re: Flipping Sticks Guides

Ben,
You will have NO problems using the micro's. I have them on every rod that I currently fish, including, Carolina, Flip, Pitch, Punch, Swimbait, Jig and numerous others. I've not used the titanium alconites, but have used most of the others available from Batson, Fuji, Kigan, and AMTAK. Tom Re: Flipping Sticks Guides

My main concern really would be that any time you are flipping (or pitching, for that matter) you are always working really thick cover, which often times is leafy and plant in nature. If you decide to go with Micros, I would strongly consider getting something that's big enough to avoid getting clogged up with plant material. I've had this happen to me on a rod with micros working on heavy cover like that. Nothing more annoying than having to clear out your tip top before every flip or pitch.
Just something to think about otherwise, no problems. :D Re: Flipping Sticks Guides

Alright. I just wanted to double check that it would be ok.

Like Thomas I use Micros on everything including flipping sticks and have been using them on flipping sticks for over 6 or 7 years with no problems.
Personally I use the Batson Micro Alps guides, and have not tried the Fuji guides on a flipping stick If you'll use the search feature on this site, type in flipping sticks for the subject. My name in the author section and click on all dates. you will find several useful posts on the subject including concerns, solutions, and suggestions that will increase the performance of your flipping stick. I would start backwards about 6 years ago and read up to the present Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/28/2014 08:06PM by Steve Gardner. Re: Flipping Sticks Guides

Ben,
Steve is the one who turned me onto the micro's. I too prefer the Batson Micro Alps. I have rods built with the original Batson Micro's in size two and have never had any problem, even when fishing in slim (slop) or heavy weeds. I have heard of individuals who had issue with cottonwood but I have never experienced that so I can't offer first hand knowledge. Take a bit of time to read Steve's posts. You will certainly NOT be disappointed. He has been on the cutting edge of the whole micro thing and is an exceptional person to deal with! If you can't tell I have much respect for the man.
