Not sure what I want. I am wanting a 11' 0r 12' fly rod or blank. I will be using it for Crappie Fishing. I need it to be as light as possible and will not be doing any casting with it. I want the rod butt to be very small (not sure of size). I trout fish and Crappie fish and tie my own flies and crappie jigs. I feel like I could build my own custom rod but don"t know where to buy the supplies or rod building kit. Would like it to be a 3-6wt rod and I would like to use micro guides. Am I asking too much or are these small light blanks available in 11 0r 12 ft. Any response would be helpful. Re: 11 foot or 12 foot fly rod

Temple Fork has several switch rods that fit your description. Since you seem to be fairly unfamiliar with pieces/parts you might be best suited calling MudHole and seeking their advice on what parts you need and what will "work". Please elaborate on why any guides if you will not be casting with it, Re: 11 foot or 12 foot fly rod

For a good but relatively inexpensive rod blank check out the 11' switch rod blanks at Anglers Roost to the left in the sponsors column. Re: 11 foot or 12 foot fly rod

Since you are only using it for crappy and trout
I would check the weight of micros to single foot wire fly or minama guides Cork tape maybe on the handle and tape the reel on where you want it Bill - willierods.com Re: 11 foot or 12 foot fly rod

I would make at least a 10 or 12 inch rear grip. 11' of rod over a days fishing will get tip heavy. The longer grip to rest under your forearm. Re: 11 foot or 12 foot fly rod

A 11 or 12' rod is tip heavy even without guides and finish
Check these out They should work find [www.mudhole.com] It does not have to be a fly rod blank Bill - willierods.com Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 07/19/2014 06:40PM by bill boettcher. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
