Hey guys,
I bought some graphite rod blanks that are sanded smooth but are unfinished. Do I need to put a finish on them? Does that extend the life of the Blank? Thanks for the help. These were clearance blanks. Cory Re: Unfinished 100% graphite rod blanks

It won't really make any difference. You could just wax them (after they're built) and be done with it. If you wanted to finish them I'd just wipe on a thin couple coats of PermaGloss.

Thanks. Does the type of wax matter? Re: Unfinished 100% graphite rod blanks

Cory,
If it were my blanks, I would just use them as is - no finish, no wax. If you do wax the blank, finish the rod first. You don't want a layer of wax under your wraps and finish. Be safe Re: Unfinished 100% graphite rod blanks

Mr. Roger,
Thank you. I plan on putting a coat of wax on because I plan on giving them out to friends and selling a few to recoupe the cost. I am using this as a way of honing skills with thread art and turning cork and general rod building. Cory Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
