I am building a rod for a good friend and he's a carpenter. I am goin to do my first wooden rod handle(fore and rear) and want to inlay a 10p nail in one of the grips. any ideas how to countersink the nail? I am goin to epoxy over everything if this is a good idea. all info is awesome. Re: how to inlay?

You could trace the outline and remove the material with a dremel tool.

Assuming it's not a finishing nail, I would grind off one side of the nail head in order to keep the inlay channel from being so deep in the wood........ Re: how to inlay?

Hi Greg,
Sandy's point is valid. Also, if you know of sum one with a Milling machine, to do a recess, would take all of about three minutes. I am fortunate enough to have a nephew with a machine shop, he has done that job for me many times. The best part is to have a cold one with him when it is finished. Kind regards, Rod. Hi Greg,
The other thing you could consider, is to have a bottom layer of colour to provide a contrast to the nail. Kind regards, Rod, Australia. Re: how to inlay?
