I have an older Lamiglass Arra 1321 that I am planning to rebuild using the NGC. Not having done this before I am assuming that I will have to heat each of the guide wrappings to soften the epoxy, then peal it off and carefully cut the wrapping threads with a razor to remove the guides.I am assuming that there will be some epoxy residue left on the blank. What should I use to clean of this remaining epoxy off the blank and then finally clean the blank before I start to re-wrap it?
Thanks in advance Frank Balas Re: Beginning a rebuild surf rod

Depending on the epoxy used, the condition it is currently in, how thickly it was applied and the size of the thread, you may be able to just pick up the thread at the end of the wrap and unwrap it, finish and all.
As to the residue, I'll let others comment. Re: Beginning a rebuild surf rod

Always be very careful with heat - you can easily damage the rod blank. Shave the top of the wrap off from the top of the guide feet and peel the wrap off. This usually doesn't require any heat.
