Rod building Progression?

I wonder how many rod builders have seen their rod building careers go through a series of phases where they learn something and practice it a while and then move on to another aspect. I sense many of us do this while a few might choose to specialize in a single or couple areas and ride those out for their entire rod building careers. Here is where I have been so far-

1. basic rod builds
2. decorative wraps
3. custom EVA and cork work
4. wood turning grip and handle stuff
5. foam-carbon grips
6. next?

I have been building rods for over 40 years. Developed many original decorative wrap designs and many thread wrapping techniques. The progression continues daily. Some are good and some that one would consider a step in progress are in my opinion not so good. It all depends on what you wish to do or be able to do, and what your customer wants.
