hi everyone, another amateur question. I recently picked up a few blanks that were a great deal but they are not finished. I have tried searching the web for information on finishing blanks but haven't found much. my question is what is the best method to apply finish to the blanks? I have attempted to apply finish to one blank but it did not come out as well as I was hoping. seems to be "streaky" looking. the finish I have is some gudebrod. any info would be great. thanks Re: rod blank finish

Do a search here in the board archives on blank refinishing and you should uncover a ton of advice on products and application methods.

Perhaps you are worried for nothing. For practice rods that might wind up as gifts or for use by clients that I am guiding, I have bought unfinished bargain blanks from Mud-Hole. The only differences I found were these blanks were often odd sizes, IE. 6'5" or 6' 11" etc, plus they were a little less shiny than normal. As far as I could tell, these things were just cosmetic and didn't effect the finished product. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
