I use this SIC match model "M" guides to build many long spinning rods(over 10' )on fly blanks +extension. For one 10'4"(3,17 m.) spinning rod build by me on ALL STAR AUSTIN 9' W10 +extension ( HELIUM LTA from KISTLER )i was using just 6 guides and the rod work very fine with 6 guides. The weight of this rod is 5,1 oz..( 145 g.).
Another 16'4" telescopic graphite rod built by me on TRIANA graphite pole(from ITALY) with the same type of guides ( the same just 6 match guides) weight 6.7 oz. ( 190 g.)and with this rod with FIRELINE SMOKE 1,8 lb. and ABU -CARDINAL STAMINA DRAG 600U ( ultralite reel for fresh water) i was catching in salt water from the bank one red fish 40 inch,23 lb.(C&R).
Please check this links to see if this guides are good or not and for big fish :

These guides are / were used frequently on either Center pin float rods or as the name says Match rods. Small guides with a high frame to keep the line off of the blank and lessen the weight on the tip of these long 13 to 20 foot rods.
