So I'm doing my first buttwrap with a lot of metallic threads and once I have more than 3 going onto the rod at once they start to get tangled up in each other because, well they like to hold their shape. Any tips on keeping them all in line aside from going one thread at a time? Thanks - Tyler Bulin Re: Tips for wrapping metallics

Separate them with a hair comb. Re: Tips for wrapping metallics

If you are using pieces off the spools, be sure to take the curl out of them before starting the wrap. This can be done by holding one end and sliding it between your thumb and index finger, usually have to do this more than once. Re: Tips for wrapping metallics

I like the comb idea. I may glue one to my peg board. And I'm wrapping off spools. Re: Tips for wrapping metallics

got this little trick from BILLY40 of the NERBS......get a plano box and put the spools in seperate spaces and drill a tiny holes in the lid...one thread in each hole..then gather the threads in your hand and wrap...no tangles... Re: Tips for wrapping metallics

I think that the comb idea is a bad idea especially if using Gudebrod thread as a comb will tend to tier the metallic off of the thread. Glenn McMurrian Re: Tips for wrapping metallics

You could also re-wrap the thread onto small bobbin and then hold them together in your hand while wrapping. Chester May your line be tight and your beverages be cold! Re: Tips for wrapping metallics

Glenn, not it won't, unless you use excessive tension. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
