I have finished painting 15 rods for a guide client. I used Duplicoat for the yellow rods and and Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch (seems to be similiar to Krylon Fusion) for the "Dukes of Hazard" orange and lime green rods. All of the blanks were painted several weeks ago. None of the paint cured as hard as I would like for a rod finish. Is U-40 PermaGloss a good over-coat for a tougher finish. I believe that I will be doing more rods in the yellow and orange for people who fish with the guides on a regular basis.
I have two colors on a metallic emeralg green and yellow blank I am playing with and will put either white, line green or orange over some of the yellow to experiement with vairous colors. I will use the rod for channel catfish and and also as an attention getter while parked at teh boat ramp. Yes - I am missing a few marbles, and my level is slightly off, but when you can look back as far as Ican, I people expect something nutty. Why take life seriously? None of us will get out of it alive anyway. Have a good day and may God bless you. Re: sealer / top coat after priming

Rex,
Always test on a sample before using. Some paints are "hot" and have powerful solvents in them that can dissolve existing surfaces. Be safe Re: sealer / top coat after priming

I have put Permagloss over DupliColor Just be Quick
That Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch You may have problems with it I think it is more of an Enamel then a Laquer I would test that With that many rods to clear -- You Just May be better off with that 2 K clear in the spray can This way spraying a clear on that Rust-oleum you not wipeing any thing on -- Still test Bill - willierods.com Edited 1 time(s).
