Hi all, a few mates want some custom rods for rock fishing( I'm talking ocean rock fishing in Sydney, Australia). They are worried graphite & carbon rods will be somewhat delicate, the rods tend to get bashed around a bit, and are leaning to glass rods. I haven't had any experience with this, so would love advice. Also what material are Tommy Farmers blanks made from? Cheers Re: tommy farmers blanks

Hi Scott.
One of the top manufactures of blanks is your next door neighbor in New Zealand. Kilwell has been building rods for 80 years. I import their outriggers, center riggers, 9oz (composite surf rod), and PE10/PE12 rated jigging rods. You will find that Kilwell uses the materials suited to get the job done properly. The problem is that Kilwell does not ship to Austraila. However, there is a Kilwell distributor in Australia. The Lamiglas Tri-Flex blanks may well meet your need. Hi Scott,
Are you going for GT? Synit carries the Kilwell GOM 3 and GOM GT blanks. They are 8' 6" to 9' 0" in length and are butt joined. Synit is based in either New Zealand or Australia. Don Don Becker Re: tommy farmers blanks

Scott,
Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been on the rodbuilding forum lately. Most of my rods and blanks are constructed from IM6 Carbon Fiber. They have proven to be pretty tough with anglers from the Outer Banks of NC using them in some pretty harsh conditions to catch big red drum. They are also popular in the NE USA and in Florida for Pompano fishing. Feel free to contact me directly if you'd like more info. Tommy Farmer Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
