Hello Everyone!
I had a blast at ICRBE yesterday, and it was a shame i was only there for one day of the event. While there i raided Mudhole's $1.49/ft rod display and grabbed some neat stuff. Among them was the pair of solid fiberglass blanks that kept getting attention and a surf blank of the most curious action. Its 10' long, 2 pieces and a medium fast action that flexes well all the way into the handle. there is a piece of masking tape on the butt with the (i guess its a serial no.) number C511102M or C51H02M on it (its quite faded). I've tried the blank lookup on MH but got no results. Anybody have any idea what the application of such a rod might be? Also, to all the sponsors and booths and presenters at the show, great job. I loved it, and really cannot wait to go next year. Re: Questionable Blank

A rod that flexes all the way into the handle would not be a medium fast action, that would be a moderate/slow or slow action. Re: Questionable Blank

Tyler,
A blank that flexes all of the way into the blank is a great rod to use when fighting big fish with lighter line. Lots of forgivness in the blank to prevent broken lines. By the way, if the rod has an action like this it is actually a medium slow blank. A common use for this sort of rod is a dead stick rod, where the fish hooks itself and the rod hooks the fish by itself. Commonly used in a rod holder.
