Hey guys I'm going to be attending the ICRBE Expo and I'm working on redoing a St Croix 7.6' med light bast caster. I'm trying to do a slow spiral wrap with 3 guides transitioning from 0-180 deg. I've been doing at lot of research on this and done hours of reading, have the rod laid out with the guides. I just don't feel comfortable with the minimum amount knowledge of spirals that I have it laid out correctly. I don't know if spiral wraps will be discussed at any of the seminars. I'm bringing the rod & reel with me and hoping somebody with more expertise will take a look to see if I'm going in the right direction and if not will point me there. Thanks Tom Re: Hope to find help at the ICRBE

I only use three guides Then the forth is at 180
best way to check out how the line lays on the guides is ( with pressure or static test ) On the rod You don't want the line pushing on the side of any guide You want it to lay on the bottom of the guide or As the 180's the top or lowest point toward the water Bill - willierods.com Re: Hope to find help at the ICRBE

You will find help aplenty at the Expo. Bring the rod in and just ask somebody. Dennis Papike and Mark Crouse are both on the seminar team and either would be able to help you set things up. If you can't find willing help here, then I can't imagine where you could find it.
Remember, guys come here to talk about rod building - don't be shy about asking. .............. Re: Hope to find help at the ICRBE

Steve, I already showed Tom that the 'Gardner Offset' is the only way to go on that set-up! Had one of Glenn's that you wrapped in the shop for a guide fix to show him. Maybe he'll believe you. :-)
Tom. Be careful. You might get so much help that you may end up even more undecided on the best method. See you all real soon! ..... Here is a pic that will not help show the secret a single bit [www.rodbuilding.org]
Just kidding Bill. It is basically starting the stripper at +/- 30` . Of course this is only meant for level winds. ..... Riley Rods-Hard Core Grips to Go!-----Carbon Fiber - Composite Grip Store-----Capt Mike's Blog-----No Excuses Fishing Charters Re: Hope to find help at the ICRBE
