Go SeaHawks!!

Personally, I am not a big football fan, or any other team sports for that matter, but the Hawks being in the Super Bowl made me think back about 30 or more years when I was a Seattle FireFighter/Paramedic. The chief of the dept called me and asked if I could make a special rod for the retiring Offensive coach of the Sea Hawks. If I remember correctly the coaches name was Jerry Rome. I told him that I would try to come up with something special in the Hawk's colors. I picked a pure white Fenwick blank, top quality cork and reel seat, and proceeded to pick out Seahawk colors for thread.

One day I was working on the rod at one of the Fire Stations and the local Battalion chief came in and told me I was not supposed to be doing that on duty. I said "OK, but the chief of the Dept. gave me the go ahead since he wants this rod done ASAP. He said "OH", Picked up a cork ring and said "I would like one of these" I said they cost 30 cents a piece. He put it down and walked out.

I did a butt wrap with the Hawks colors in the pattern of an Eagle (Sea Hawk colors) and blue, green and white on the white blank. The chief and his coach friend loved it. Just a little bit of history for Hawks Fans. :>)

Nice weave, Raymond. It is the coldest Fourth of July here in WA. state I have ever seen. Fireworks going off everywhere!!! My Seahawk was a cross wrap.

Thought this topic might have something to do with techniques like "shellacking" or "whip finishing". Poor Broncos we're absolutely stampeded.

Go Hawks!
