Tenkara Blanks?

Hello,

I was at a fly fishing show recently and the folks in the Tenkara booth liked my grips and asked if I could mount them on a Tenkara blank. The obvious answer is yes, if I can get the blank, or at least the bottom replacement piece without the grip.

Has anyone pursued this? A search yielded no results.

Tenkara USA pretty much has the market. No blanks or rear pieces yet.

They seem to be real popular in Colorado. I've replaced the cork for carbon on a few and recently sent out a quote out to someone who actually wants me to strip up to 100 brand new rods replacing the cork with carbon.

The ones I've stripped were poorly glued on.

I asked Talon-Graphite if they made these blanks and also if they could make a telescopic tenkara blank and the answer was "No." Thats as far as I have pursued this. You might ask Herb Ladenheim if CTS if they will make them.

I'm not too excited about pursuing an alternate Tenkara-like model. I saw a couple of copies at the Boise show. Interesting. I fish a lot of bigger water, as do many of my customers so the concept doesn't hold a lot of appeal. However, i can see where it would be attractive for small stream fishing. Very connected. I wouldn't mind working with the local Tenkara folks to offer a custom look.
