Folks:
I have had a couple of rods given to me, that the story goes were the first rods that my Grandfather sold when he open his Bait and Tackle shop in Belle River, Ontario. They are Shakespeare Wonderrods. One is in need of repair. A guide needs to be re-wrapped and the ferrule needs to be re-wrapped. To do this I need some Black/Green Classic Twist thread. This does not seem to be in production any more. [www.rodbuilding.org] Any one have lead on where I could acquire some? Chris Richer Iroquois ON Re: Thread Help

Look at Pro Wrap in their new tiger wrap. I just used some on a ice fishing rod. It is black green and brown. Looks like the picture you sent try that. Lone Wolf Rods "Keep your powder dry and your lines wet" God Bless Re: Thread Help

Chris,
When you rewrap, do yourself a favor, and 1. Obtain a thread that is a close match. 2. Cut all of the thread off the rod and rewrap the rod, guides and joints with the new thread. Then, you can be sure that everything will match. Be safe Re: Thread Help

Chris trust me. It is spot on. If you don't like it I will pay for the spool of thread. That is how much faith I have in a match. Lone Wolf Rods "Keep your powder dry and your lines wet" God Bless Re: Thread Help

Thanks for the offer Forrest. I hope to have some Green and Black headed my way shortly and I will pick up some of the Tiger thread at the show in February. This is going to be a minimal repair if I can get away with it. Sold by my grandfather to the grandfather of a cousin on that side of the family :) Chris Richer Iroquois ON Re: Thread Help

Contact Karen @ Bingham ([email protected]), she's offering 100yd spools of 001/5896 BLACK/GREEN and 001/200 BLACK/GREEN (bottom of the page: [www.angelfire.com]) . . . sorry, don't have mine yet, so can't tell you the difference between 0200 and 5896, but someone else on the forum probably has that information on the tip of their tongue . . .
good luck with your search Re: Thread Help
