Never done a leather wrapped grip on a trolling rod. Got an order for two. CAn you guys point me to any detailed step by step instructions for how to do this? Might be a bit much to ask in a forum post but would like to get the most detail possible. Never done one and don't want to screw this up. Thanks. Re: Trolling Rod Leather Grips??

There was a complete article in the Volume 15 #5 issue of RodMaker detailing how to do these start to finish. Every aspect covered, with step by step photos.
Otherwise you can do a search of the archives here on this forum for a more general "how to." ....................... Re: Trolling Rod Leather Grips??

Thanks for the quick reply. Just what I was looking for! Perfection. Is that built up from scratch? Where do you get the leather? Will order tonite. Also see the other handle. Is that a white handle or somehow somebody figured out how to do a full clear handle? You guys rock! Re: Trolling Rod Leather Grips??

It's built from scratch. I've done hundreds of them. The leather strip pictured is a Pacific Bay item. There are alternatives which you may be able to source locally. The article covers everything including the parts and pieces needed and how to make, shape, assemble, etc. Core is usually cork, provided you can find it in sufficient diameter. There are alternatives for the core and the article covers that as well. These articles are simply too in-depth to cover in a forum post. Again, you can do a forum search for more simple nuts and bolts "how to."
The other handle on that cover is a clear acrylic grip. Instructions for it are in the same issue. ............... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
