Ok so we have all made mistakes. I made one, now how do I remove a fly reel seat after I have glued it on with Flex Coat 30 minute epoxy? Re: Remove Reel Seat

Hello Daniel.
I would just stick it in a plastic bag then into some boiling water for five minutes or so , if that doesn't work put it back in and check again every once in a while. Beyond that I would Just cut it off carefully. Good Luck. Bob, New Bern, NC. Re: Remove Reel Seat

Hi Daniel,
You can try immersing the seat in boiling water to soften the epoxy. You will need something to protect the seat from damage as you will need to twist it to get it off. A rag may suffice. Multi grips work ok to get it off but can damage the seat. It may take several goes in the boiling water to get it loose. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: Remove Reel Seat

What about heating it with a hair dryer? Re: Remove Reel Seat

A hair dryer will NOT heat it enough to soften the epoxy holding the seat. Boiling has always worked for me, sometimes it takes a couple of times for 10 minutes or more. Re: Remove Reel Seat
