Andi,
Back in 1978 I took a rod to have the guides replaced and the repairman did not even put a finish on the thread. I was very upset and since I used to do a lot of fishing and had several rods that needed repair, I decided to learn how to wrap guides. Looking through some magazies I saw a small ad for a book by Dale Clemens titled Fiberglass Rod Making. I ordered the book and when I received I did the same thing you did-I read it cover to cover. Now many years later I am still making rods. I also have Tom's book in my collection. Building rods may not be an inexpensive hobby but it is a very enjoyable one, especially when you catch fish with them. Enjoy the book, build some rods and go out and enjoy yourself.
Cheers, Ellis
