I really like the look and feel of the old bamboo fly rods and was wondering how a new bamboo fly blank would fare if built as a spinning rod .Guess I am concerned with durability issues, and what any positive or negative issues might be. Also any do's and don'ts Re: bamboo spinning rod

They make spinning and casting blanks also out of cane. Re: bamboo spinning rod

In many ways a cane blank would be more durable than most higher end graphite blanks. They're going to be heavier for the stiffness, of course, and outside of crafting a hollow bamboo over-sleeve ferrule (I only know of one gentleman that does this) you're back to using some type of metal fitting for that purpose. Don't expect it to feel or perform like a graphite rod. Other than that, if you like it, do it.

do any of the sponsors sell a bamboo spinning blank, or should I just build on a fly blank like one from anglers roost. and if building on a fly blank, how do you determine what weight would serve what purpose Re: bamboo spinning rod
